Last weekend was a great time to wear the royal blue and white.
Saturday started with the Blue Devil boys soccer team defeating the Kennewick Lions 3–1 at Blue Devil Stadium. The Lions had defeated the Blue Devils twice earlier in the season in penalty kicks; however, the Blue Devils won the most important matchup between the two teams and secured a spot in both the District 6 Championship and the WIAA State Tournament, which begins May 19. On Friday, May 15, the Blue Devils travel to Ridgeline High School in Liberty Lake to face the Falcons for the District 6 Championship. The team will learn its first-round state matchup on Sunday, May 17, when the bracket is released. Tickets may be purchased through GoFan, and the game will be streamed on the NFHS Network.
In Kennewick, the Blue Devil boys tennis team secured the MCC 3A team title while sending six players to the District 6 Tennis Championships at University High School in Spokane. The tournament begins at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, and concludes Saturday afternoon. Both Luke Higgins (2nd) and Simon Unck (4th) advanced in singles, while the doubles teams of Micah Eggart/Felix Leise (1st) and Bryson Juhasz/Felix Chun (4th) also advanced. Congratulations to Coach Bryan Eggart and the Blue Devil tennis team on their MCC Championship.
Monday and Tuesday saw the Blue Devil girls and boys golf teams travel to Spokane to compete in the District 6 3A Golf Championships. On Monday, senior Nile Dumser shot a school-record 63 (par 71) to lead the boys tournament after Day 1. Nile finished third overall after Day 2 to advance to the WIAA State Tournament next week. Senior Evie Sarley also qualified on the girls side and will return to Spokane next week to compete at state.
The boys baseball team traveled to Spokane four times in the past eight days to work through the District 6 Baseball consolation bracket.
