The Walla Walla High School Wrestling Team is proud to send seven outstanding wrestlers to compete at the 2026 WIAA Mat Classic State Championships at the Tacoma Dome. After strong showings in district competition, these Blue Devils earned their state qualifying spots and are ready to compete against the best in the state.
Leading the way for Wa-Hi are Kylie Whitaker and Brooklyn Quigg, both finishing first in their respective weight classes to punch their tickets to state. Also qualifying with impressive performances were Hazel Asmus and Lydia Mertens, each placing third, and Alisson Rojas and Christian McFeron, who finished fourth at districts. Rounding out the group is Ryan Oblisk, who also earns his place at the Mat Classic with a strong sixth-place finish against tough competition.
These athletes have shown grit, skill, and heart throughout the season, representing Walla Walla with determination on the mat. Coaches, teammates, family, and the community are rallying behind them as they prepare for the state tournament later this month. Their achievement not only highlights individual hard work but also underscores the strength and depth of the Wa-Hi wrestling program.
Good luck to Kylie, Brooklyn, Hazel, Lydia, Alisson, Christian, and Ryan — Go Blue Devils!
